What is mlm marketing

What is mlm marketing?

MLM for short is a term for product marketing built upon a chain of customer to consumer relationships where the seller seeks to enlist the buyer into furthering the marketing partnership. MLM is sometimes referred to as pyramid or network marketing and has the inherent benefit of personal contact in the business relationship as well as direct knowledge of the supply, supply chain and quality of product.

Detractors of MLM claim that few if any of the participators in such programs make a profit. They assert that the tier based nature of the system, where the ranking members derive tertiary benefits from the lower, allows only a very select few to succeed.

The current notion of what is MLM Marketing is one of near predation, where a seller co-opts his purchaser into becoming a new seller.

Thus continuing the chain. In defense of MLM, the system can be deployed with little overhead when utilized with most products due to the horizontal structure of the supply chain. It may also be implemented with little initial overhead and without need to invest in brick and mortar retail or the need for paid labor. The onus on such a relationship then must be on quality of sold material or on the skill or tenacity of the seller.

Given a good set of products there seems to be no reason why MLM would not or could not be a successful method of marketing in the current economy. In the past MLM has received a negative public image. Many persons regard ‘pyramid schemes’ or certain product chains as being ‘shady’, in the use of the vernacular.

What is mlm marketing and its future?

Whether or not MLM will succeed in the coming decades and clear itself of this checkered past is unclear.
